Main Challenges and Roles

As a Visual/Interaction designer on the product team at Internet Brands Inc., I was responsible for designing visual and user interface designs for business web application and web presence management tools. Using pre-built UI kits, I created new flows, interfaces and systems for website builders, portals, appointment systems and dashboard components.

My main roles were to:

• Update current style guide with new visual and UI elements

• Update existing interface design with a more effective design system

• Create new concepts for future products

Process

I have participated in a variety of projects and implemented a consistent design system across multiple SaaS products in the company’s portfolio.

Here are just a few of the highlight projects.

Website Builder Gallery Module

Multimedia gallery module is a feature in the website builder that allows users to manage different types of media such as photos and videos.

Challenge

Creating the gallery is a key experience for a website builder since delivering visual contents to websites is an important way to add value to a business. However, the initial version of the website builder did not include seamless interactions and a clear visual system of managing media for customers’ sites.

Goal

How can we allow users an easy and productive way to manage their visual contents using the gallery module?

The main goal was to create a seamless experience of implementing media in our brand new website builder tool. Using the current design system and UI, I focused on the details in smooth user flows and interaction.

Demandforce - Marketing and Practice Management System

DemandForce is a software-as-a-service application that assists businesses in reaching their consumers through email, SMS and online services. It is designed to help customers grow revenue, keep clients coming back and manage operations more effectively.

Appointment Reminder

The appointment reminder page allows customers to customize their appointment reminder timeline, thereby reducing no-shows. The current reminder experience is not intuitive and is difficult for users to use due to its complex design.

Goal - How could we resolve the clutter and enrich the appointment reminder experience?

Final design of the appointment reminder timeline. The new design is updated with a clear hierarchy and visual elements to signify that each section is distinct.

Each timeline allows users to edit the reminder context accordingly.

Advanced settings to set additional reminders, such as pre-medication and early arrival reminders.

Review Form

I updated the outdated review forms to create a clean design which incorporates the new UI elements. I not only focused on visual elements, but also made sure all elements were easy to use with both desktop and mobile experiences.

New Concept for Next

I was also responsible for designing a new concept of the dashboard and secured message center for the product which could be redesigned in the future. The design is not fully complete, but rather designed only as a concept.
